Why dailies

What daily contact lenses give you

Ultra comfortable

A brand-new lens every morning, so there is no build-up and nothing to irritate your eyes by the evening.

Breathable

Modern daily lenses let plenty of oxygen through to the front of your eye, so your eyes stay white and healthy.

Sharp all day

Clear, stable vision from the moment you put them in until you take them out at night.

Nothing to clean

No cases and no solutions. Wear them, bin them, and open a fresh pair tomorrow.

The lenses we fit

Our first choice: Bausch + Lomb ULTRA ONE DAY

Bausch + Lomb launched ULTRA ONE DAY in the UK through independent opticians like us, and it is the daily lens we reach for first. Here is what Bausch + Lomb say it does:

  • Comfort for 16 hours.

Its MoistureSeal and ComfortFeel technologies are designed to keep the lens feeling fresh from morning to late evening.

  • It holds on to its moisture.

Bausch + Lomb say the lens retains 96% of its moisture through the day, which matters if your eyes feel dry by the afternoon.

  • Plenty of oxygen.

A high-oxygen material, to help your eyes stay healthy and white.

  • Soft, smooth and almost weightless.

Many people tell us they forget it is in.

  • UV protection built in.

It helps limit UV reaching your eyes, though it does not replace sunglasses.

To be straight with you, no lens suits every eye. We also fit Biotrue ONEday from Bausch + Lomb, and daily lenses from Alcon, CooperVision and the other leading makers. The fitting is where we find out which one suits your eyes, and you try it before you buy.

The fitting

What a contact lens fitting involves, and what it costs

A fitting is thirty minutes with an optometrist. We look at the front of your eyes and your tears, choose the right daily lens with you, and check how it sits and how you see. Then we teach you to put the lenses in and take them out until you feel confident.

You take trial lenses home and wear them in your real life for a week. At the follow-up we check your eyes with the lenses in, and only then do we order your supply.

The fitting is £95. If the lenses suit you, the £95 comes off your first order of two to three months of lenses. After that, your lenses are paid by monthly direct debit, from £11 a month.

The problem

What people tell us about daily contact lenses.

  • “I only want lenses for sport and weekends.”
  • “I don’t want to clean lenses every night.”
  • “My eyes feel dry in lenses by the afternoon.”
  • “I’ve never worn lenses and I’m nervous.”

Daily lenses were made for exactly this: a fresh pair each morning, and nothing to clean.

Dailies

Who daily lenses suit, and how they work

Who they suit

Most new wearers, anyone who wears lenses part-time, sport, holidays, and anyone whose eyes run a little dry. The healthiest way to wear lenses, because a lens is never older than a day.

How they work

You open a new pair each morning and throw them away at night. Modern dailies are thin, hold water well and let oxygen through to the eye, so they feel like nothing by lunchtime. They come in single-vision, toric and multifocal, so almost every prescription can have them.

Honestly

They cost more per day than monthlies if you wear lenses every single day, and there is a small amount of packaging. For anyone wearing lenses fewer than five days a week, they usually work out cheaper as well as healthier.

Your options

Your options in a daily lens

Every lens on this page is fitted at all five practices. The fitting decides, with you.

Single vision dailies

For short or long sight without astigmatism. The simplest lens, in the widest choice of materials, and where most new wearers start.

Toric dailies

For astigmatism. A daily lens that settles the right way up on the eye each blink, so the correction stays where it should.

Multifocal dailies

For over-forties who need help up close. Distance and near in a fresh lens every day.

Dailies for dry-ish eyes

Materials that hold water longer for eyes that feel dry by the afternoon, chosen after we have looked at your tear film.

Put it off, and you keep working round your glasses at the gym, in the rain and on nights out.

Get the right dailies, and you put a fresh pair in and forget about them.

Frequently asked questions

Are daily lenses better for dry eyes?

Usually, yes. A fresh lens each day holds more water and carries no build-up, so it stays comfortable longer. If your eyes are dry we look at the tear film first, because no lens fixes a dry eye on its own.

Can I get dailies for astigmatism?

Yes. Daily toric lenses correct astigmatism and the fitting finds the one that sits still on your eye.

Can I get dailies if I need reading glasses?

Yes. Daily multifocal lenses correct distance and near at once, and suit most people over forty.

What does the fitting cost?

£95, including the teaching and the follow-up check, with free trial lenses if you are new to lenses. If the lenses suit you, the £95 comes off your first order of two to three months of lenses. After that, your lenses are paid by monthly direct debit, from £11 a month, or per box.
