Silhouette, and why the frames are more than plastic
Silhouette has been made in Linz, Austria, by the same family since 1964. In 1999 it launched Titan Minimal Art, a rimless frame with no screws and no hinges that weighs 1.8 grams, so light that NASA took it on Space Shuttle missions. Everything Silhouette makes still follows that idea: the frame should disappear and leave only your face. The titanium is shaped in Austria, the lenses are cut to your chosen shape, and the whole thing can be bent in the hand without breaking.
