The house

Face à Face, and why the frames are more than plastic

Face à Face was founded in Paris in 1995 by designers who came from architecture and furniture rather than optics, and it shows. The frames are built like small objects: thick acetate cut into geometric fronts, colour laid in blocks, temples that look sculpted rather than moulded. Each collection is designed in Paris and made in small runs. Nobody buys a Face à Face by accident; they are chosen by people who want the frame to be part of how they dress.

Known for

Three things to know about Face à Face

  1. 01

    Designed in Paris

By architects and product designers, not a licensing house

  2. 02

    Colour and geometry

Bold fronts, layered acetates, unexpected lines

  3. 03

    Small runs

Collections you will not see on every high street

Who they suit

Someone with a strong sense of style who wants the frame noticed. Works beautifully on rounder faces that can carry an angular front, and on anyone who wears colour.

A name on the frame does not mean it will suit your face. We bring you a shortlist rather than a wall, and we say gently when one does not work.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I try Face à Face glasses on near me?

At Abra & Co in Cheadle, Middleton, Heald Green, Winsford and Heckmondwike. Book an eye test online or ring the practice, and we will have the collection ready for you. If there is a particular model you want, tell us and we will bring it in.

Can I have my prescription in Face à Face frames?

Yes, including varifocals and high prescriptions. We measure and fit the lenses here. Single vision lenses run from £109 to £499, and every option is shown with its price before you decide.

Do you sell Face à Face sunglasses?

Yes, and we glaze them with your prescription, including tinted and polarised lenses. Ask when you book and we will have the sunglass collection out for you.

What if Face à Face does not suit my face?

Then we will say so, kindly, and show you what does. A name on the frame does not mean it will suit you; that is the first thing we say about every brand. And if you buy and change your mind within sixty days, we change the frame or the lenses at no charge.

How much do Face à Face glasses cost?

Frames across our ranges run from £70 to £850; Face à Face sits towards the upper part of that. Lenses are priced separately and shown before you decide. Pay half today and spread the rest over 4, 6, 8 or 10 months, interest free, with nothing added.
