Gabrielle Chanel opened her first shop as a milliner on rue Cambon in Paris in 1910. In February 1955 she launched the quilted 2.55 handbag, one of the first designer bags with a shoulder strap.
The interlocking CC, quilting, chains, tweed and black and white are the house codes, and they all appear on its eyewear. Matthieu Blazy was named creative director in December 2024. Chanel eyewear is made under licence by Luxottica (EssilorLuxottica).
