About Valentino

Founded in Rome in 1960 by Valentino Garavani, the Valentino house has spent six decades defining what Italian couture looks like. The eyewear line — produced under licence by Marcolin in Italy’s Veneto region — translates the studio’s signature codes into frames: the V-logo cut in profile on the temple, the Rockstud detailing on premium acetates, and the unmistakable Valentino Red across selected limited pieces. The current eyewear collection is overseen creatively by Pierpaolo Piccioli, who has led Valentino since 2016.

Who wears Valentino

Valentino frames suit people who already know the house — the customer who has worn a Valentino bag, a pair of Garavani heels, or a Rockstud belt, and who recognises the design language without it needing to be explained. The eyewear line has a stronger feminine collection than most European houses, with a wider acetate range, lighter constructions, and more varied colour palettes than you typically see from Italian luxury frames.

The collection spans cat-eye and butterfly silhouettes (V-Romance series), oversized acetates with Rockstud accents (V-Ace, V-Light), classic aviators and pilots, and a smaller but growing men’s line. Most pieces sit in our luxury frame tier. Sunglasses are available across the same model range, including polarised options for prescription wearers.

The styling consultation is the part most patients tell us they didn’t expect. It’s a 45-minute session with one of our trained dispensers where we look at your face shape, colouring, prescription strength, and how you actually wear your glasses (full-time, part-time, work-only, screen-only). We then pull out the frames in store that would work for you, including the Valentino pieces that match. It’s included free with any frame purchase and there’s no obligation. We’ve found that most patients try four or five frames they would never have picked off the wall on their own — and walk out with something they love.

Prescription lenses for Valentino frames

Valentino frames accept prescription lenses across the standard range, including single vision, varifocal, and tinted sunglass options. Single-vision lenses from £180; full premium progressive lens packages from £350. We always recommend our HD lens range with Valentino frames because the optical centring matters more in larger frames.

Yes — the eyewear is produced in the Veneto region of Italy by Marcolin under licence to Valentino. Every frame carries the Made in Italy mark on the temple.

Does Valentino do larger or smaller frame sizes?

The collection runs a wider range of sizes than most luxury Italian houses — we hold pieces from compact 49mm models up to oversized 58mm acetates. We will measure your bridge and temple length at the styling consultation to make sure the frame sits properly on you.
