Our wonderful client came to us from a well-known high street chain of opticians. She had been a happy client of theirs for many years and was highly myopic (short sighted); her prescription was R) -8.00 and L) -9.00.

Due to this short-sightedness, she always wore contact lenses during the day and single vision glasses in the evening and on weekends.

2. Prescription Review: 

We retested her prescription to ensure accuracy, optimising it for distance vision first, followed by adjustments for near and intermediate vision. 

3. Comfort Consideration: 

Discovering minor dry eye issues, we selected a low modulus, high water gradient contact lens to enhance comfort and moisture retention. 

4. Adaptation Strategy: 

Since multifocal contact lenses and varifocal glasses function differently, we prioritised helping our client adjust to the varifocal glasses first, simplifying the adaptation process. 

Implementation Process:

4. Varifocal Glasses:  

Provided tailored coaching and fitting for varifocal glasses, customising the lens choice to offer a thinner lens with a 13mm intermediate corridor for improved comfort and usability at work. 

5. Follow-Up Contact Lens Fitting:  

Scheduled a follow-up fitting after 3 weeks to ensure proper adjustment and comfort. 

6. Ongoing Check:  

Conducted a contact lens check after 3 months to confirm continued satisfaction and address any issues.
